Title: Understanding the cellular functions of human genetic variation

Presented by Dr Daniel Gaffney, Wellcome Sanger Institute

Hosted by Dr. Derek Morris

All are welcome

Dr Gaffney is a graduate of NUI Galway (Marine Science, 1999) and went on to complete a PhD in evolutionary genetics at University of Edinburgh (2006). He is now a Group Leader at the Wellcome Sanger Institute where his research goals include understanding the molecular and cellular consequences of genetic changes in gene regulatory regions. Much of the group’s recent research has been focussed on using human induced pluripotent stem cells (hIPSCs) and cells derived from hIPSCs as model systems to map and characterise human noncoding genetic changes.
