Collaboration with Medical, Healthcare and Biotechnology companies is an important aspect of the NCBES research strategy. Over 50% of the world's top 25 biomedical companies have significant manufacturing and R&D operations in Ireland and creating partnerships with these companies is central to the long-term strategic plan of the NCBES.

The National Centre for Biomedical Engineering Science has established a number of Industry-University partnerships since its inception in 1999. As a result of these collaborations ongoing major research projects have been established and this work will continue to drive the success of the Centre in its work at the frontier of biomedical research.

Corporate Affiliates Programme
In 2004, Galway University Foundation launched a Corporate Affiliate Programme to enable companies to associate with the NCBES and other centres of excellence on campus. Roche Ireland Ltd. Became the first member of the NCBES Corporate Affiliate Programme in 2004 making a five-year commitment to support the Centre's work. The programme, a creative strategic partnership aimed at mutually beneficial interaction and information exchange, provides industry partners with access to people, resources and services at the NCBES.
