GMP
The National Gene Vector Laboratory
The NCBES hosts the National Gene Vector Laboratory (NGVL), a dedicated 250 M2 facility to produce clinical grade viral vectors and cellular therapeutic products according to current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP). The facility contains a series of separated production suites allowing the parallel manufacture of adenoviral vectors and adult mesenchymal stem cells. Work to bring this facility to completion is ongoing and it is currently one of its kind in Ireland and the UK.
The NGVL is also involved in the production of research grade viral vectors to support gene therapy research in REMEDI. Currently, adenoviral, retroviral and lentiviral vectors are being produced for various research project areas such as heart disease, retinal disease and diabetes.
